Hotjar no longer sells plans of its own. Hotjar merged into Contentsquare in July 2025. Its pricing page now sends you to Contentsquare, and new Hotjar accounts can no longer be created. Heatmaps and session replays are now Contentsquare’s Experience Analytics: free up to 200,000 sessions a month, with replays on 5% of them, then Growth from $39 a month billed yearly, or $49 monthly, for 7,000 sessions. Surveys are sold separately.
Below: what Contentsquare charges, what Hotjar used to cost, what is happening to existing Hotjar accounts, and cheaper ways to get heatmaps and replays. Figures come from contentsquare.com, Hotjar’s help centre and the Internet Archive, checked on 2 October 2026.
What heatmaps and replays cost now
| Plan | Price | Sessions | History kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Up to 200,000 a month; replays on 5% of sessions, up to 10,000 | 1 month |

When a plan’s sessions run out, Contentsquare says: “You won’t get any new heatmap or funnel data until next month’s reset date.”
Surveys are a separate product
Hotjar’s surveys and feedback widgets live on as Contentsquare’s Voice of Customer, priced on its own: free for 100 responses a month, then Growth from $79 a month billed yearly, or $99 monthly, for 500 responses. User interviews, the old Hotjar Engage, are no longer sold to new customers.

If you already have a Hotjar account
Hotjar’s help centre describes the move. Existing accounts switch to Contentsquare’s Growth plan after 30 days unless the owner opts out. The Hotjar account then stays read-only for 90 days, and after that it is deleted. Hotjar also warns that “your price may change”. If you want your recordings and reports, export them before the read-only period ends.

Replays and heatmaps from $9 a month. ReplaStats Starter records session replays and click and scroll heatmaps alongside full web analytics, with no cookies and no traffic limit on the plan. Replays and heatmaps cover a sample of visits, 15% by default and adjustable per site. It works on any website with one line of code, and WordPress gets a plugin. It has no surveys, so if those were the reason you used Hotjar, look at Contentsquare’s Voice of Customer.
Questions people ask
How much does Hotjar cost in 2026?
Hotjar no longer sells plans of its own. Its heatmaps and replays are now Contentsquare’s Experience Analytics: free up to 200,000 sessions a month, then Growth from $39 a month billed yearly, or $49 monthly, for 7,000 sessions.
Can I still sign up for Hotjar?
No. Contentsquare’s Hotjar page says it is no longer possible to create a new Hotjar account. New customers sign up for Contentsquare instead.
What happens to my existing Hotjar account?
Hotjar’s help centre says existing accounts move to Contentsquare’s Growth plan after 30 days unless the owner opts out. The Hotjar account then stays read-only for 90 days before it is deleted, and the price may change, so export what you want to keep.
Is there still a free plan?
Yes, on Contentsquare: up to 200,000 sessions a month, with replays recorded for 5% of them up to 10,000, and one month of data.
What is the cheapest Hotjar alternative?
Microsoft Clarity is free, but it sets cookies and has needed a consent signal for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland since 31 October 2025. ReplaStats includes replays and heatmaps from $9 a month without cookies, alongside its web analytics.
